Paneer is a type of soft cheese which is prepared by curdling cow or buffalo milk using type of acid like lemon juice or vinegar. Paneer is commonly used in Indian cooking for making variety of recipes. Homemade paneer is best for this recipe but you can use store bought as well. Nowadays, Paneer is easily available in stores and it is also known as Cottage cheese. You can soak the store bought paneer in warm water before cooking. It helps to make the paneer soft but don’t soak it for a longer duration or in hot water, else it will be too soft and spoil the recipe.

Ingredients:
400 gms of Paneer
1 cup of hung curd/greek yoghurt
1 tbsp mustard oil for marination
1 tbsp roasted gram dal powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1&1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1&1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp chat masala
1/2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves
salt as per taste
Oil for grilling
Method:
Add all dry masala/powders, salt and crushed dry fenugreek leaves to curd. Mix well, add mustard oil into it and prepare the paste for marination. Take Paneer and cut it into cubes or triangles as per choice. Keep pieces about 2 inch in length and may be 1/2 inch in thickness. Coat paneer cubes in marination and keep it aside for 2-3 hours. Overnight marination in fridge would be perfect.
When you want to serve, take out from fridge. Heat the grill on high flame and add oil to it. Once grill is hot, add marinated paneer to it and cook it properly from both sides. You can grill single cubes or arrange paneer on a bamboo skewers and grill them. Incase, you are using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 15-20 mins which helps them to stop burning under grill.
You can serve grilled paneer with mint chutney and some lime wedges.
